Darrell G. Aquino, born and raised on the island of O’ahu.
Bass guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals, performance and recording artist.
Grew up in a musical family and is a self taught musician. Started playing guitar at age 9. Began playing in bands at 13 years old for Intermediate and High school dances.
Started professional career as a musician at the age of 15, performing at various military bases on the island of O’ahu. Began performing in nightclubs at age 18.
Moved to the island of Maui and performed in a polynesian show and dance nightclub 6 nights a week for 5 years.
In 1986 moved to San Diego, California to further career. Has performed with a jazz/rock band and opened and backed up Stanley Clarke in a concert. Also was in a rock band that performed throughout San Diego. Performed for Multi Image, a production company which customized shows for clients such as NCR, American Airlines, Pitney Bowes, and traveled across the country.
1994 moved back home to Hawaii and performed with various local artist. In 2004 and 2005 won “Hawaii Music Awards” for the Best Rock Band. Also in 2005, won a “Na Hoku Hanohano Award” for Best Rock Band and has received multi nominations to the “Na Hoku Hanohano Awards”. Traveled to Japan to perform Hawaiian music for various Japanese hula halau (hula schools). Places traveled internationally include: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Tahiti, Marshall Islands, Guam.
Performed with International Artist which include Don Ho, Michael McDonald, Ciran Gribben, and Bill Champlin.
He works throughout the islands performing at various hotels and venues in a rock band and also doing solo and duo performances.
Hobbies include: surfing, bodysurfing, hiking, martial arts.
The highlights of my career has been to perform or jam with everyone I have worked with. They have all contributed to my musical and life endeavors.
